Australia Day lamb campaign

The US, Australia’s biggest market for lamb, took nearly 41,000 tonnes of lamb during 2005 – a 27 per cent increase on the year before. Importantly, the value of Australian lamb exports to the US also rose – they were worth an estimated $310 million in 2005, up from $250 million the year before.

It seems that it’s not only Aussies who love their lamb, but also Americans, Japanese and Chinese, with the latest export figures showing all-time record lamb exports to each of these overseas markets during 2005.
